Explore Ireland
If you’re arriving a little early or staying a few days after the wedding, there’s plenty to explore — from Dublin and Ireland’s Ancient East to the west coast and Northern Ireland.
Here are a few of our favorite ideas.

Perfect for a day or two before or after the wedding.
Dublin is compact, walkable and easy to explore over a couple of days. Wander the city, stop for a pint, hear some live music and leave plenty of time for a long lunch or dinner.
Temple Bar
Wander the cobbled streets of Temple Bar and stop for a pint at The Temple Bar or one of the neighborhood’s many pubs. It’s lively and touristy, but still worth experiencing at least once.
For a quieter pint, wander a few streets beyond the main Temple Bar strip.
Grafton Street
Stroll Grafton Street for shops, cafés and street musicians, then continue into St. Stephen’s Green.
Trinity College & the Book of Kells
Walk through Trinity College and see the Book of Kells and the historic Long Room.
Have a Pint in a Classic Dublin Pub
Part of the fun of Dublin is simply finding a great pub, ordering a pint and settling in for a while.
The Long Hall · Kehoe’s · Neary’s · The Palace Bar · Mulligan’s
Dublin Castle & Georgian Dublin
Walk through Dublin Castle, then wander through the Georgian streets around Merrion Square and Fitzwilliam Square.
St. Stephen’s Green
A beautiful spot to slow down between Grafton Street, lunch and a pint.
Howth
Take the train out to the coast for harbour views, seafood and a cliff walk.
Kilmainham Gaol
One of Ireland’s most important historic sites and one of Dublin’s most memorable visits.
Guinness Storehouse
Learn the story behind Guinness and finish with a pint overlooking Dublin from the Gravity Bar.
A Perfect Day in Dublin
Start with coffee and a walk through Trinity College, wander down Grafton Street and through St. Stephen’s Green, stop for a long lunch, explore Georgian Dublin, then finish the afternoon with a pint at a classic pub. Head toward Temple Bar in the evening for dinner, music and one more pint.
An Evening in Dublin
Dublin is at its best when you leave a little room for spontaneity — dinner, a traditional pub, live music and a walk through the city after dark.

Easy day trips while you’re in County Louth.
Brú na Bóinne / Newgrange
One of Ireland’s great ancient sites and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Newgrange predates both Stonehenge and the Egyptian pyramids.
Advance booking is essential. Visits to Newgrange begin at the Brú na Bóinne Visitor Centre.
Slane
Explore the Hill of Slane, Slane Castle and the surrounding Boyne Valley.
Carlingford
A beautiful medieval village between the mountains and Carlingford Lough. Come for the scenery, harbour, walks, pubs and famous oysters.
Boyne Valley
A landscape filled with ancient monuments, historic ruins and some of Ireland’s oldest stories — an excellent choice for a relaxed day of exploring.

Galway & the Cliffs of Moher
Best as an overnight or two-night extension rather than a day trip from Bellingham. Spend some time in Galway and explore the spectacular west coast and Cliffs of Moher.
Driving from the Dundalk/Bellingham area to the Cliffs takes roughly four hours each way, so we recommend making this part of a longer west-coast trip.
Belfast & the Giant’s Causeway
Head north for Belfast, then continue along the coast to the Giant’s Causeway — one of Ireland’s most dramatic landscapes and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Wicklow & Glendalough
South of Dublin, the Wicklow Mountains and Glendalough offer lakes, mountain scenery and one of Ireland’s most famous early monastic settlements.
These are simply a few ideas if you’d like to explore more of Ireland while you’re here. Schedules, opening hours and availability may change, so please confirm details directly before traveling.
